Okay so the dash has been messed with but it looks clean and $4k is a fantastic price. What am I missing here? Is there any reason why this isn't a screaming deal?

Rust? Probably a regular Mini, not a Cooper? Lots and lots of maintenance due?

I could care less about whether it's a real Cooper. I emailed the seller and am waiting on a reply.

The small quarter panels between the fender and doors normally go on them (the one i can see looks pretty good) they are cheap and easy to replace.

Huh. That is a suspicious price, but it does look ok. It wouldn't be all that hard to put the dash back and proper wheels are easy to find. There has to be something wrong with it he's being coy about.

That's all for the better (not caring about the Cooper-part) as there was no '86 Cooper. That relived in '90 after being discontinued in the 70s. That km-meter only has 5 digits so '60000' km is probably 160k. Or more. It's probably a 1000cc 41bhp. It weighs next to nothing so you'll have a smile on your face anyway. You can check the engine by it's engine code , that should be easily visible. Just look very good at the body, they tend to rust quite a bit. Parts are easily obtainable. If you live in Europe ;-)
